In 1970, the total calorie intake was 2165 with meat, eggs, and nuts dominated the number at 465 calories, the number followed by grains and added fat at 430 and 410 calories, respectively. After 20 years, the total energy intake rose significantly to 2405 with grains dominated the chart at 575 calories. Added fat followed behind at 460 calories. Meat, eggs, and nuts was overtaken by both ingredients with just 5 calories below added fat at 455 calories.
20 years later, the total calories rose once again to 2665. Added fat outnumbered grains by 25 calories, at 640 and 625 calories, respectively. Meat, eggs, and nuts remained the third largest energy sources. Fruit remained as the lowest source of calorie intake with a slight improvement over a period of time.
