The given line chart compares four different countries, namely: Japan, US, China and India, based on the distribution of Australian exports from 1990 to 2012.
Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that the proportion of Australia’s exports sent to Japan recorded the highest figure in most years, whereas the opposite was true for India. Additionally, the data reveals a mixed trend, with China and India increased and 2 others declined.
In the first year, the percentage of Australia’s trade going to Japan dominated the chart at approximately 25%, which was double that of the US. The proportion of Australia’s exports sent to China ranked third at only around 3%, while India came in last at about 2%. In 2010, the share of exports Australia delivered to China had overtaken Japan to be the highest rate out of four.
In the last year, China experienced an exponential growth in the percentage of Australia’s trade and reached a peak of nearly 30%. In addition, there was a slight growth in the figure of Australian exports, from 2% to 6%, meanwhile, that of Japan and the US witnessed a significant decline to stand at just under 20% and 5% respectively.
