This table provides detail about the land proportion which is covered by forest in four different countries over the period of 1990 and 2005 with projected values for 2015. It is clear that Brazil recorded the highest percentage, while Chile had the lowest figures.

In 1990, the proportion of land covered by jungle recorded at 62.2%, whereas by the 2005, it decined to 57.2% but it is predicted that this figure will drop to 53.5% by 2015. Similarly, the rate of forest area fell between 1990 and 2005, dropping from 21.9% to 21.3% respectively. However, the rate is further likely to dropped to 20.0% in 2015.

By contrast, the ratio of tree-covered land in New Zealand rose slightly between 1990 and 2005, starting at 28.8% in 1990 and reaching 31.0% in 2005, but the estimated percentenge is likely to increase by 2015 to 32.3%. Likewise, Chile accounted for just 20.4% in 1990 and increased moderately to 21.5% in 2005. By the 2015, the ratio will be increase by 1.5%.
