The given bar chart illustrates the percentages of female spectators and participants aged 16 to 25 in six different sports in a country in 2000.
Overall, tennis was the most prevalent for women to view, while basketball attracted the highest percentage of players. In addition, except for badminton and golf, all other sports had more females watching than those participating in.
Looking first at sports that had higher proportions of viewers than players, the figure for tennis, the most popular physical activity among the chart for female watchers, at 60%, was double that of those joining. Moreover, the data on basketball spectators followed tennis closely, with roughly 55%, which was slightly higher than the share of participants, at 50%, thus making this sport the top rank among the joining cohort. Meanwhile, the percentage of females watching gymnastics recorded at 20% was approximately two times that of those doing. Additionally, the figures for both horse riding viewers and joiners were below 10%, leading this activity to become the lowest rank among the shares of all sports players.
Turning to the others, golf had the same proportion as tennis players, at 30%, triple that of spectators. Likewise, the figure for women playing badminton, at over 10%, was remarkably higher than that of those watching, by about 5 percentage points.
