The bar chart depicts the percentage of female spectators and athletes aged 16-25 in a particular country in six different sports in 2000.
Overall, the proportion of female audiences was higher than that of participants in the majority of sports, whereas the categories, namely badminton and golf showed the reverse pattern. Notably, basketball attracted significant proportion of both spectators and participants, while horse riding and racing was the least popular sport.
Regarding the sports which attracted more audiences, the proportion of female spectators in tennis was 60%, nearly double that of participants. Similarly, the figure for females watching gymnastics was 20%, while that of athletes stood at approximately 9%. Basketball had a small disparity, recording roughly 55% and 50% of spectators and athletes. Horse riding and racing stood at a small proportion, with only 5% of audiences and nearly 3% of participants.
By contrast, the percentage of female spectators in golf stood at 10%, nearly one-third as much as participants. There was around 5% of audiences in badminton, compared to about 11% of athletes.
