The bar chart illustrates the number of students choosing eight different university subjects, divided into males and females, in 2005.
Overall, the bar chart compares information about men and women. In addition, men had a large portion in Applied Sciences and Mathematics, while women reached a peak in Social Sciences and Languages. Besides, Languages and the Arts remained the lowest enrollment by men.
To begin, more than 20,000 men selected science subjects; however, this opposed figure accounted for 10,000 in females who took part in these subjects. In contrast, there were different patterns in applied social subjects for men, in which most students were women. Especially in the field of Languages, women dominated with nearly 25,000 students.
On the other hand, Humanities, the Arts, Literature, and Law were the least chosen by both students. Specifically, Humanities saw an equal number of male and female participants, standing at around 12,000 students. Literature was twice as popular among men, with figures reaching approximately 14,000 and 7,000. Two subjects, Law and the Arts, recorded the lowest engagement. Law attracted around 10,000 males and 6,000 females, while the Arts experienced the lowest figures on the chart, with only 3,000 males and 7,000 females.
