The picture below illustrates the alterations that took place in Felixstone town between 1967 and 2001.
Overall, the town underwent radical changes over the given period, with the most notable transformations being the removal of farmland and the development of the beach area to make it more visitor-friendly.
In 1967, the town featured a large farmland area in the northeast and a golf course in the northwest, separated by a shopping center along the high street. The town also offered several amenities, including a hotel, a cafe, and a fish market. Dunes were situated to the west, while a marina and pier were located along the southern coastline.
By 2001, the town had undergone significant transformation. The farmland in the northeast had been replaced by a hotel complex complete with a swimming pool and tennis courts, as well as new apartment buildings nearby. The fish market and marina were removed, making way for a private beach. In addition, a public beach was established in the center of the coastline, next to which a car park was built beside the existing hotel. To the west, wind turbines were installed near the dunes to generate renewable energy.
