The graphic compares the total proportions of using of 4 different main modes of transport which were Car, Public Transport, Bicycle and Walking used by people to arrive at their workplace in London from 2000 to 2020.
Overall, Car’s figure dominated the ranking table through years despite a small drop. Both Public Transport and Bicycle kept increasing clearly, while Walking still remained unchanged afterall.
In 2000, Car showed its power by flexing the percentages which stood at 60% and ranked at first place. Occupying the second place was Public Transport, whose figure was less than a half of Car’s (at about 24%). Walking illustrated their data at 10% and it was double the figure for Bicycle, which was at 5%.
However, in 2020, the amount of people using cars plummeted from 60% to 50%, but it still successfully ranked at the top. In contrast, Public Transport showed the opposite trend, which indicated that it rose 6% (reached the number of 30% in 2020), Bicycle followed the same pattern and increased to 10% in the final turn. Meanwhile, Walking leveled off at 10%, showing a period of stability but still had to share the bottom position with Bicycle.
