The bar chart illustrates the number of both male and female students studying six art-related subjects at a UK Higher education institution in 2021.
Overall, it is noticeable that proportion of female students was dominant in most of the subjects. The highest number of students studied English language and literature, whereas the lowest number of male students was in philosophy compared to history and archeology in the female group.
The male enrollment figure for English language and literature was around 225, being the highest figure for male students in one subject. On other hand, the least significant number was related to philosophy, reaching 50 students, whereas History and archeology surpassed philosophy by only 40. The number of male learners in linguistics, art and design, and communication and media studies was 180,170 and 210 respectively in the year 2011.
The figure of females enrolled in English language and literature was 250, being the highest number of students in the whole chart. The lowest number was for History and archeology at 120 students. However, the art and design section was quite unique; it is the only section where the number of female students was lower compared to males, with just 20 students. The sum of females who studied linguistics, philosophy, and communication and media studies was 240, 150, and 230 in that order.
