Overall, the average amount earnt in five cities from England and two cities from Scotland are given. There are vast differences between the wages earnt by English workers, while Scottish workers only show a slight difference in income. No significant difference is observed between the population of an area and the amount earnt by its working population, with the exception of London.
London boasts the highest average salary of 33634 pounds alongside the largest number of citizens of all the cities displayed at a population of 50951. Surprisingly, the second largest amount earnt by the most uninhabited city of Cambridge. The mean income then decreases from Bristol to Manchester by about 2000 pounds, before reaching the UK’s lowest mean income of 25531 pounds in Bristol.
On the other hand, cities from Scotland earn nearly the same amount on average, with the wages of Edinburgh and Glasgow only showing a difference of about 1500 pounds despite there being about 500 more people in Glasgow.
