Overall, the tourism from the UK and USA increased rapidly over the period, while the figure for Japan decreased. Although the hotel was tourists’ highest priority for living, this figure declined in 2005, whereas the backpacking rose significantly. However, both of the accommodation types accounted for the same tourists number at the final year.
In 1995, the highest number of tourists emigrated from Japan, stood at more than1.4 million, which dropped considerably to approximately 1.1 million at the final year. Moreover, the figure for the UK and USA was similar at about 1.5 million in the intial year, both figure fell dramatically by 2005, around 0.8 million and 0.6 million respectively.
Regarding hotel, in the intial year, it was the most prioritized accommodation among the tourists, stood at about 1.7 million, which climed sharply and picked at its highest point to 2.5 million in 2000. The figure then experienced a rapid decline and reached a low of 1.3 million. In contrast, the preference of backpacking accounted for less then 0.5 million of tourists in 1995. However, the figure soared gradually over the period and stood at 1.3 million.
