The graph provides the detail in use of water around the world measured in km3 from the distinct sectors – agriculture, industrial, and domestic use – for one century from 1910 to 2010.
Overall, the trend of three sectors indicated a rise, while the highest number of using water was agriculture.
To begin with, the agriculture division experienced an increase from 500 to 580 (1910-1940), and the number approximately doubled between 1940 and 1950 which slightly climbed by 20 in 1960. Furthermore, the figure in 1970 dramatically boomed to 1500 which was three times higher than the initial period. In addition, use of water of this segment during 1970 to 2010 consistently grew by between 300 and 500 accounting for 3000 in the end of the periode which was the top position.
The industry utilized 20 km3 in 1910 which remained steady to 1940, while it went up in 1950 and 1960 by 10, respectively. The number had a sharp rise during 1970 to 2010 from 150 to 15000 – which was ten times higher than seventh period – by between 350-500 in each decade, the exception in 1990 that had a moderate growth by 100. Moreover, domestic use only spent from 10 to 150 for one century, while it was clear that an increase was only between 5 and 10, but in 1980 and 2000 had 70 and 30.
