The bar chart demonstrates the average water consumption of six Australian cities in last year, while the pie chart illustrates in which sectors the water was distributed in 2014.
Overall, it is evident that Perth was the largest contributer for water consumption, while water was significantly distributed to agriculture section among others.
According to the bar graph, Perth’s properties used up the largest amount of water, 300 kilolitres for each, whereas only 140 kilolitres of water was consumed by each household in Canberra. Adelaide and Brisbone were the third and second largest consumers, making up 230 kilolitres and 250 kilolitres respectively. While 200 kilolitres of water was utilized by each property in Sydney, individual household of Melbourne applied 150 kilolitres of water.
Regarding the pie chart, over two third (67%) of water consumption was distributed to agriculture. In contrast, mining was the lowest sector, that utilized only 2% of water consumption. While households made up 9%, manufacturing and other industries consumed 4% for each. Meanwhile, the remaining 14% of water was equally shared by water supply, sewage and drainage section and electricity and gas supply section.
