The first graphic shows where tourists from New Zealand originally come from. There are data from 1999 and 2009. On the y-coordinate you can see the numbers of visitors. In 1999, the most tourists from New Zealand came from Japan with 1,5 million visitors in a year. In 2009, the fewest tourists came from Japan, with “just”1,35 million visitors. This number is still greater than any other tourists’home country in 1999. About a million UK-Tourists visited new Zealand back in 1999 and 800.000 tourists were from the US. This number had already doubled within 10 years, with 115 million visitors in 2009. Most tourists in 2009 came from the UK with 1,6 million people.
The graphs below show the number of tourists who spent their holidays in two different ways. There is an orange line for travelling with a backpack and a blue one for staying at a resort. The X-Coordinate shows the years from 1999-2009 and on the y-coordinate are the number of tourists. The “backpacking” line has always increased since 1999. In 1999, there were about 250. 000 people, in 2004 already 750. 000 and in 2009 over a million tourists traveled With a backpack. The line has always increased equally. The “staying at a resort”line has increased and decreased. From 1999 to 2004, the number of tourists who were staying at a resort increased from 175 million (1999)to 230 million (2004)people. This was so the highest point of the graph. Since 2004, the numbers have been decreased drastically. They have halved since. In 2009, there were just a bit over 1 million people staying at a resort during their holidays -Just as many as the people travelling with a backpack!
In Conclusion, the number of people, travelling with a backpack has increased a lot, while staying in a resort isnt as amazing as back in 1999! Most tourists of New Zealand come from UK, even tho, in 1999, most tourists were from Japan.
