The chart compares the proportion of adults by age groups in the UK , using internet daily over the period between 2003 and 2006 .
It is true that utilization of the internet increase over the given period among the all age group . It is also noteworthy that the young dominated usage of internet whereas the reverse was true for the older people who exhibited the lowest percentage of the using internet .
Among the all ages and period, young people that is aged 16-24 dominated using internet , beginning with 80 % and the proportion remained stable till 2004 . Since then the trend reached its peak of 90 % which followed by slightly decline around 87 % . The aged 25-44 group showed 70 % of the usage daily then gradually increased until the end of the given period , reaching its peak at 80 % .
In terms of older people , initially the internet usage of the aged 45-54 group was about 55% , while the following year this rised to the just below 70 % . Since then this percentage was declined 60 % in 2005 before rising again reached the same level as it was in 2004 . Also aged 55-64 group illustrate the stable upward trend in using of internet over the given period , starting at around 32 % and reached the peak of roughly 55% in 2006 . the oldest group 65+ used the lowest amount of internet , beginning with about 4% then significantly increased , reaching just below 20% and then this levelled off till 2006 with small increase in 2005 .
