The diagram shown provides information about the proportion of people in Great Britain living alone categorized in five age groups and gender: males and females, throughout the year 2004 until 2005.
The pattern varied for each section. For example, the teenagers and adults groups percentages were dominated by the females, while the senior category were the reverse. The percentage for people that are within the 16-24 were approximately 5% for men, with the women perceived nearly as many as the men. The difference was even smaller in the 45-64 years old category, which was less than roughly 3%.
By the age of 65 and older, the pattern showed a peculiar trend, which shifted the vast majority to the females group, with both sections surpassing one third of the population. For those in their mid-70 and over, the percentages were even more contrast between the women and the other gender, which were 28% and 58% respectively.
