The bar graph depicts the proportion of individuals residing alone in the USA from 1850 to 2000 categorised into five groups based on age, with data represented as percentages.
Overall, only people above 37 were living alone in 1850 and the age category 27 to 36 lived alone since 1900. However, in 1950, people of all five age groups were noticed to have started following this trend. The percentages increased for all ages by the end of the period, but this trend was the most popular among people above 55.
To begin with, in 1850, the proportion of individuals who lived in seclusion began 37 years. Meanwhile in 1900, individuals from 27 to 36 also joined this trend and the rate was ranging between 2% and 4% for those particular age groups in both decades.
In 1950, the data for all the five age groups can be observed, with the figures for people above 54 being the highest. Moreover, in 2000, the percentages rose dramatically to around 5%, 8%, 7%, 13%, and 17% for the age groups 17 to 26, 27 to 36, 37 to 47, 47 to 54, and 55 to 64, respectively.
