The bar chart illustrates the pass rates of high school students in seven competency exams. Overall, compared to boys, a greater proportion of girls pass exams in the majority of subjects, except in geography.
As the largest share among girls, 56.3% of female students passed the exam in computer science, while 42.1% of male students passed the exam. Meanwhile, in foregin languages and mathematics, the female pass rates at 47.4% and 49.2%, respectively, were slightly higher than those of men, comprising 46.8% and 48.4%, respectively. Similarly, in physics, which was the subject with the highest pass rate among boys at 34.6%, the pass rate of girls was still marginally higher, at 36.7%. At the same time, the most significant gap between the figures of the two sexes can be witnessed in chemistry, accounting for 30.2% and 14.1%, respectively.
By contrast, the pattern of geography differs from other subjects. There were 30.4% of male students who passed the exam, whereas only 20.1% of female students passed the exam, representing the lowest rate for girls.
