The horizontal bar chart illustrates the passing rate of boys and girls in the competency exam of high school over a period of 2 years from 2010 to 2011. While the X-axis shows the subjects they completed, the Y-axis provides the proportions of the completion of pupils.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that though results were bad in the subjects of sociology, they did well in the subjects of science. Moreover, in the Foreign Languages, both male and female pupils were good.
In the case of Computer Science (CS), girls’ passing standard was outstanding which figure is 56.3%. In contrast, their amount of completion was less than half in the subject of Geography compared to CS.
However, the highest passing quota of boys was 48.4% in Mathematics, which is slightly higher than in Foreign Languages. On the other hand, the lowest completion standard was 14.1% in Chemistry.
Nonetheless, men’s passing percentage crossed the women ones only in Geography and the difference is around 10 percent. Females crossed the males strikingly in Chemistry and SC, and the differences are 16.1% and 14.2% respectively.
