At the beginning of the period, Caneda started at around 15 millions tonnes and saw a steady surge to 25 million of tonnes by 1978. Similarly, the European Community experienced a moderate decline, moving from 17 to 14. In contrast, Australia remained relatively stable in the early years, hovering around 14-16 million tonnes.
In the later years, Canada continued to reverse, reaching 14 million tonnes in 1988. However, Australia declined dramatically, ending at 11 million tonnes. By the end of the period, the European Community surpassed both Canada and Australia, reaching 21 million tonnes, while Canada partially recovered to 19 million tonnes.
