In 2015, South Korea had the highest smartphone ownership at around 60 percent, while India had the lowest at 18 percent. By 2020, South Korea’s figure surged to nearly 90 percent, whereas India saw only a modest rise to 35 percent. China, starting at 40 percent, grew significantly to 75 percent, surpassing both India and Brazil.
Likewise, the UK and Brazil experienced upward trends. The UK’s rate more than doubled from 35 percent in 2015 to 80 percent in 2020, whereas Brazil saw a slower rise from 30 percent to just over 50 percent. Despite these changes, South Korea consistently had the highest ownership, while India remained the lowest.
