Overall, the lowest spending in both years was on books, while the highest was on food. However, spending on clothes remained stable and did not experience any changes. Both smartphones and toiletries showed an increase over the period.
Looking at the details, in 2010 spending on food was just around $36 million. This figure then experienced a significant increase to just over $44 million in 2014. Moreover, in 2010 people spent $10 million on books, whereas in 2014 they spent only $5 million. In terms of clothes, it remained totally similar at $25 million in both years.
By contrast, smartphone spending rose over the period, from $20 million to approximately $26 million. Toiletries represented the same pattern, starting at just over $15 million and finishing at $20 million in the final year.
