The bar chart compares population growth in five countries in 2000 and provides projections for 2025, measured in millions.
Overall, China and India had by far the largest populations in both years, and both countries are expected to see significant increases. In contrast, Germany experienced only a slight rise. The USA and Brazil also showed steady growth over the period.
In 2000, the population of the USA was 280 million, and this figure is predicted to increase to around 335 million by 2025. Similarly, Brazil’s population rose from 175 million to approximately 215 million, indicating a moderate upward trend. By comparison, Germany had the smallest population among the five countries, growing marginally from 82 million to just 84 million.
Regarding the two most populous nations, China had the highest population in 2000 at about 1,260 million, followed by India at 1,000 million. However, India is forecast to experience a more substantial increase, reaching 1,400 million by 2025. Meanwhile, China’s population is expected to grow more slowly to around 1,440 million. Although China will remain the most populous country, the gap between the two is predicted to narrow considerably.
