In general, Hungary and Philippines were by far the largest and second largest producers and users of rice respectively. It is notable that Bangladesh was the only country studied where consumption was higher than production.
Focusing on rice production, Hungary produced 540 tons of rice, the highest quantity, while Philippines ranked second with 410 tons. These figures were significantly greater than those of other remaining countries, with India in third place, recording 106 tons, and South Korea in tenth, producing 49.
Turning to consumption, Philippines used 387 tons of rice, making it the country with the biggest surplus of rice. The second largest surplus was in Tunisia, where consumption was 70 tons, 17 tons lower than production. Hungary, which used 532 tons of rice, had the greatest consumption rate, whereas South Korea had the lowest with 45.
