Overall, rock was popular and the sales of pop recordings took the lead with 4.8 among all age groups. The sales of jazz was the most stable in terms of music types. It is noting that the figure for classical recordings rose slightly in the first four age groups, experiencing a dramatic increase.
Jazz purchases started as leading recordings in terms of music categories with 4.8 millions sales. However, the figure for rock surpassed jazz on 23-31 group, retaining the dominant position in following group. Though rock recordings fell in 32-45, it’s sales still always remained over 3 millions. In contrast, the amount of pop(32-45) had dropped to a low of 1.5 millions which became the worst sales, reaching parity with the age group from 46 to 57.
According to the first three groups, jazz increased continuously, whereas it edged down to just under 2.9 millions.An opposite pattern was seen in the classical music.Despite starting from the lowest level, the amount of classical rose steadily overtook jazz and peaked at about 4.5 millions on 58+ group.
