Overall, it is clear from the chart that all countries produced more electricity than they consumed, except for Germany. China and the US are the two leading countries in both electricity production and use, with a much larger amount of electricity than other countries.
In 2014, China generated and consumed the most energy, at 5,398 billion and 5,322 kWh, respectively. The country with the second largest amount of electricity production and consumption was the United States, about a fifth the China’s electricity. In third place was Russia, although its power production and consumption was only around 1,000 billion kWh. In terms of Japan, India, Canada, their outputs ranged from 615 to 940 billion kWh while their usages ranged from 500 to 1,040 The seventh and eighth countries – France and Brazil – both produce and consume similar amounts of power, at around 550 billion kWh for production and 450 billion kWh for consumption. Germany only generated 526.6 kWh and rankd nine place, but this was the only country that used more electricit than it produces. The lowest producer in the top ten was Korea, Rep with 485.1 billion kWh, which was about half of fourth-place country Japan. At the same time, these two countries were also the countries with the least electricity consumption.
