The first chart illustrates how many graduates finished college in the UK in 2008, while the second chart shows the destination of UK postgraduates in the same year.
Overall, it can be seen from the charts the number of graduate and postgraduate students who were unemployed after finishing college. Interestingly, the number of students choosing further study was higher than both other trends. Other students chose voluntary work and part-time work.
Looking at the first chart, many students decided to pursue further study. This trend includes 29665, which means that most students wanted to study. This was followed by part-time work, at 17735 in 2008; meanwhile, a minority of students wanted to contribute to voluntary work. The number of UK students who were unemployed was 16,235 after finishing college.
If we look at the second chart, the further study rate was high, and the number of those in further study was high. 2595 students were in part-time work, while 345 students were in voluntary work. Finally, the number of unemployed students in the UK in 2008 was 1,625.
