Upon closer examination, in 2022, the US market on imported seafood had almost quadrupled compared to the beginning of the period, reaching approximately $20 billion. China and Thailand accounted for more than half of the market, emerging as the dominant origins of US seafood. Canada followed at a distance, constituting 16% of the US seafood imports, while other countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, and Ecuador, each contributed below 10% of the total seafood imported to the US.
By 2032, it is predicted that the US seafood imports market will decline by about $2 billion despite its past growth.
