The bar chart details passengers can use a variety of means of vehicle for long-distance travel in the UK in 1990 and 2000.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the chart highlights a significant increase in long-distance travel by motorized transport, particularly air travel. Passenger numbers generally increased over the decade.
Looking first of all at the most pervasive habits, in 2000, stabilized 40 billion individuals took trips by bus and rail. From there, these trends diverged with this traveling by bus falling to 35 billion in 1990. Rail increased to around 31 billion. The figure for that trip by air stood at roughly 5 billion in 1990, rising to 8 billion in the next 10 years.
In contrast, bicycles and motorcycles were far less common. Fewer than 5 billion of passengers traveled by both bicycle and bike in 1990, increasing both modestly to just under 10 billion by 2000. Overall the long-distance travel significantly increased from 100 billion passengers km in 1990 to 110 billion in 2000.
