The bar chart details data on life expectancy in four different countries, namely Japan, Korea, the USA, and Indonesia. Additionally, the table illustrates the increases in life expectancy for the same countries between 1953 and 2008. Overall, it’s clear that all countries saw various rises in life expectancy. Despite experiencing the highest percentage growth, Indonesia had the lowest figures overall, followed by Korea, which was the second-ranked country. Although Japan had only a slight rise in life expectancy, it recorded the highest figures throughout the given period, while the US, with a mere increase in percentage, had lower figures.
In 2008, Japan had the highest life expectancy among the four countries, with an average of approximately 83 years, followed closely by Korea, where the longevity of individuals was around 80 years. The life expectancy in the USA was lower, at roughly 78, while Indonesia recorded the lowest figure at 70.
The table shows the change in life expectancy over a 55-year period from 1953 to 2008. Indonesia had the highest rise in life expectancy at 15.7%, followed closely by Korea at 12.5%. The change in longevity for people in Japan and the USA was much lower, at 3.5% and 3% respectively, making them the countries with the smallest growth in life expectancy.
