The bar graph illustrates the rate of the citizens living in cities in the five different continents of the world in three separate years, i.e. 1950, 2007, and projected for the year 2030.
Overall, from the beginning until the future projection the trend has increased gradually. North America has the highest percentage of population in urban areas. While Africa has the smallest percentage.
North America, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean have dominated in this projection. Three of these different continents have around half of the population living in the urban areas since 1950. About 2007 this percentage increased to around 70%. In the future of the year 2030 it will steadily increase to approximately 80%.
In contrast, the world, Asia and Africa have dominated the least . In the 1950 the rate was almost 20%, it increased gradually until 40% in 2007. Projected for the year 2030 it will rise around 50% of the population.
