The two bar graphs depict the information about changes in the urban and rural populations trends and age structures’ trends over the 90 year’s period, from 1950 to 2040.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the urban population has a significant growth, which affected on total population trends. In age structure trends, the age group from 15 to 65 years old increased noticeably.
In terms of urban and rural population, the trends increased dramatically because of the rise of urban population. At the beginning of the period, urban population was measured at just under 10%. During the following years the trend experienced a gradual growth, increasing up to about 10% every 25 years. Now, it stands at roughly 30%, whilst for the future, it is predicted to continue rise to around 38% by 2040. The rural population trends remained unchanged over 90 years on less than 10%, and it is not predicted to increase by 2040. The total population had an upward trend, increasing up to 40% by the present time, and it is estimated to continue grow.
As for age groups, it is noticeable that the group from 15 to 65 years old leaped up sharply from just above 5% in 1950 to more than 30% in 2025. For the future trends, it is expected to have a slight growth of approximately 5% by 2040. While the age group under 15 had an insignificant increase to 5% at the beginning, it was followed by a decrease. The next years there was a steadiness, however for it is expected to rise to just over 5% by 2040. The age group over 65 had a fluctuation between 1950 and 1970, followed by a similar trend of plateau in the past and a slight increase by the future as for the age group under 15 years old.
