The bar chart illustrates the level of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the economies of India and China between 2014 to 2019.
Overall, China’s FDI exhibited the downward trend over the period of time, whereas India’s overall trend were fluctuated. Despite that the total amount of money invested in China was higher than India, with the exception of a brief period around 2015 when India surpassed China in FDI.
The economy of China received an amount just under $80 in 2014, which decreased steadily around $60 billion in 2015 and 2016. The downward trend continued in 2017. Subsequently there was a massive resurgence to a peak point over $100 billion in 2018, before receding to $40 billion in 2019.
In 2014, the amount invested in India’s economy was slightly over $20 billion. It rose significantly to approximately $60 billion in 2015 and 2016 before falling back to 2014 levels in 2017. In 2018 there was another dramatic increase just below $60 billion.
