It is clear that in all these cities, incineration and landfill are the two most commonly used waste disposal solutions. Recycling and composting methods are much less utilized compared to incineration and landfill.
In both Toronto and Amman, landfill is the most common method, with usage rates of approximately 73% and 48%, respectively. Incineration accounts for about 10% of the waste in Toronto, compared to almost 40% in Amman. Additionally, recycling and composting have similar percentages in both cities, with each method used by less than 10%.
In Madrid, around 28% of waste is sent to landfill, while in Kuala Lumpur, the figure is much lower at 15%. Incineration is the most frequently used method in both Madrid and Kuala Lumpur, comprising 40% and 55% of waste disposal, respectively. Finally, recycling is equally prevalent in both cities, accounting for nearly 22% of waste, whereas composting remains below 10% in both locations.
