The bar chart illustrates the average number of hours per week that teenagers in Chester spent on seven different activities between 2002 and 2007.
Overall, it is clear that throughout the period, watching TV was the most time-consuming activity. While Bowling remained the least popular. It is also worth mentioning that almost all activities experienced downward trend and changes with exception of watching DVDs
Looking at the bar chart in detail, the time spent on watching television increased notably, starting at around 25 hours per week in 2002 and reaching just under 40 hours by 2007. While having slight decrease from low of nearly 8 hours to a high of 12 the indicator of going to the pubs/discos remained unchanged in 2006 before reaching its peak in 2007. Similar patter was observed in the figure for Shopping which that the amount of time teenagers spent on shopping gradually increased over the period. In 2002, they spent around 7 hours per week on this activity. This figure rose steadily each year, reaching approximately 15 hours by 2007. However, the reverse trend was true for the column of doing homework and doing sport, which remained relatively stable until 2004, But both indicators experienced level down trend in the next following years. When it comes to the index of watching DVDs, children spent about 18 hours per week on this activity. While it reached its peak in 2004, this number gradually declined each year, falling to around 8 hours by 2007.
The time spent on bowling fluctuated slightly at the beginning but then declined overall. It started at almost 5 hours in 2002, rose a little in 2003, and then steadily fell to just around 1 hours by 2007.
