The diagram gives information about age groups attended different music events in Australia in 2006. Overall, participants aged 15-44 were the most active in terms of Popular music, while this type was less appealed by people aged 45 or higher.
As for classical music, it showed consistently low rates among all age groups. The percent for classical music was between 8 and 11 percent throughout all groups. Opera events showed similar numbers, with slightly being more than classical. Older people (45 to 54 and 55 and older) presented the most of their interest towards opera as both age groups accounted for 15 percent which is the highest among three categories.
Notably, popular music was the most favored. This type of music was attended mainly by youngest category (15-24) with the top 38%, closely followed by attendees who are 35 to 44 years old with 33%. Lastly, with 27% came adults who were between 25 and 34. However, the elderly paid less attention to popular music with 45 to 54 years old 13 percent and participants older than 55 representing 5%.
