The bar chart illustrates the average price per kilometer of wearing apparel imported into the European Union from six different nations, namely Argentina, Brazil, Japan, China, India and Bangladesh—during a 2-year period, starting in 1993.
Overall, it cost much for Argentina and Brazil to import clothing into the EU, whereas the average price per kilometer of clothing exported by Bangladesh was cheaper.
In the first period, the average price per kilometer of clothing from Argentina topped the chart at about 27 £. However, in 2003, this number declined slightly to 26 £, which was still ranked first of the most expensive prices among 6 nations in importing clothes. It is noteworthy that the average per kilometer of garments that were exported by Brazil remained stable over 2 timeframes, approximately 23 £. 15 £ was the cost for exporting clothes to the European Union in Japan during 1993, this number saw a marginal decrease to about 13 £ after a decade.
Another interesting element to note is that it costs China about 17 £ per kilometer of clothing imported into the EU in 2003, higher than that of in 1993 for around 7 £. During 2003, the average price per kilometer clothing was 12£ in India, about two times that of Bangladesh in the same period.
