The bar chart illustrates the average rainfall for Australia each month for the past year and the average rainfall for the previous 40 years. The bars and a line are used to represent the respective data. In general, the pattern of the last year mostly aligned with the records of last 40 years
According to the given figure, the first noticeable observation is that the average rainfall in the country for the preceding forty years marginally exceeds that in the year before. For instance, in both sets of data, January seems to be in the lead for having the most amount of showerings (80 mm to be exact in the forty years and approximately 70 mm in the last year). As a stark contrast, October stood at the lowest mark (barely 10 mm), while the line witnessed a slow surge from September, which only went on to increase. However, the rainfall in the previous year showed similar trends as that shown in the past forty years.
Months namely May, June, July and August had a progressive plunge before rising from November to December (reaching almost 50 mm and barely above 40 mm respectively), staying true to the pre documented observations.
