The bar chart illustrates how the distribution of people aged 65 plus varied in separate countries from 1980 to 2000 with the projected figures in 2030.
Overall, all three nations will have experienced significant increases, but to varying extents. Additionally, Germany leads the chart during the examined period.
The population aged 65 and above in Germany saw the most substantial rise, from 15% in 1980 to exactly one-fifth in 2000, which was the highest figure among all surveyed countries. There was also an increase in the UK and Canada, but to a lesser extent, from about 14% and 10% respectively to the same percentage of 15% between 1980 and 2000.
From 2000 onwards, the cohort aged over 65 living in Germany is expected to have sustained its top position and reached a peak of 25% in 2030. A somewhat similar trend can also be seen in Canada, which will have grown from the second highest place and reached 22%, while around a 4% increase is forecast to be witnessed in the data in the UK by 2030.
