Overall, the percentage of households with no cars accounted the biggest in the first year and in the last year the number of families with cars skyrocketed.
In 1971, the proportion of households with no cars was the highest ( 48 percent) . In the same year the percentage of families with one card, two cars or more was 35 and 21 percent respectively. After 20 years the proportion of households with no cars decreased significantly to 30 percent in 1991. By contrast, there was a significant rise in the ratio of households with one car from 31 percent in 1981 to 48 percent in 2000.
In 2001, the percentage of families with one car decreased slightly but it was not the biggest change. In the same year, the rate of households with no cars , two cars or more was equal at 39 percent.
