The bar chart illustrates the proportion of men and women aged 18-20 in a city who engaged in several activities in a month in 2015.
Overall, young males took the dominance in most of these listed activities, except for cycling and swimming. Interestingly, the general engagement of men was relatively much larger than women.
Regarding the male gender, football was their most favored activity with the proportion of half, approximately 3 times as much as that of their counterpart. Similar patterns were also seen in basketball and hockey with the gap between the two genders being 20 percent and 5 percent, respectively. Although cycling and swimming were at the second and fourth rank with 38 percent and 20 percent respectively, these two brackets were the only fields in which males were surpassed by their counterparts.
In terms of women, the data was generally low in these activities with all brackets did not exceed 40 percent. On top of the list, cycling and swimming had the highest engagement from women with 40 percent and 35 percent, respectively, surpassing the figures of men. However, young females aged 18 to 20 were quite passive in remaining brackets, with the engagement of football, basketball, and hockey being under 15 percent.
