Overall, the highest percentage of illiteracy was related to old women and the girl teenagers had the lowest. The percentage of illitrate young boys was slightly more than that of girls. In contrast, in the middle and old age, the propotion of illitrate men was marginally less than that of women.
In 2009, among people aged 17-19 and 20-24 without qualifications, the percentage of boys lacked qualifications was more than that of girls (approximately 7% and 6%, 8% and 7% respectively). Additionally, regarding the 25-29 and 30-39 age groups, these percentages are similar for both sexes at roughly 8%, whereas in 40-49 age group, the propotion of females lacked qualifications was more than that of males(11% as opposed to 10%). Moreover, in the oldest age group(50-59/64), there was a greater percentage of women without qualifications compared to that of men(20% and about 17%).
