The bar chart gives information about the proportion of residents in the UK which did not own any qualifications in 2009, according to gender and age.
Overall, it is clearly seen that the rate of males who had no qualifications was higher than that of females in younger age groups (17-19 and 20-24), while a reverse trend can be noticed in older age groups (40-40 and 50-59/64). In addition, there were two particular groups in which the figures for both genders without degrees were exactly the same (25-29 and 30-39).
Regarding the younger age groups, the share of men aged 17-19 in UK without certificates was about 7%, which was just 1% higher than that of women. Moreover, the figure for female citizens from 20-24 with no degrees was reported at 7%, which was only 1% lower than that of males. Furthermore, the percentages of people aged 25-29 and 30-39 in both genders who did not have qualifications were precisely similar, at 8%.
Turning to the older age groups, 10% of men in UK had no degrees, compared to 11% of their female counterparts. The last age group (50-59/64) witnessed the largest gap between both genders, which was 3%, with 17% and 20% for males and females, respectively.
