The bar chart compares the proportion of individuals who consumed 5 portions of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis in the UK between 2001 and 2008.
It is clear that the rate of women, and men ate 5 portions of fruits and vegetables per day were the most popular, in terms of overall usage, throughout the period shown. The lowest percentage on the chart is for children, but this category also saw the most dramatic increase in the ratio of consumers.
In 2001, women in the UK ate 5 portions of fruits and vegetables per day for a total of just over 20%, and about half of that portion of men for 5 portions of fruits and vegetables daily. By contrast, children only consumed more than 10% of the total. Over the following 4 years, the rate of people who ate 5 share of fruits and vegetables per day increased steadily.
By 2006, the rate of women eating 5 portions of fruits and vegetables had reached a peak at 35%. Subsequently, the rate of this category fell, but the rise in the other people of 5 rate of fruits and vegetables continued in 2007. In 2008, the portion of men consumed 5 share of fruits and vegetables daily passed 26%, while the ratio of children rose to 24%.
