The bar chart illustrates the incidence of school children learning to play four distinctive musical instruments namely piano, guitar, drums and violin: over the period of 10 years, starting from 2005.
Overall, it can be inferred from the chart that the proportion of children learning to play the piano and the guitar witressed a drastic incline over the period. By contrast, a slight change was registered in the percentatges of children learning the drums and violin.
To begin with, both the piano and quitar registered around one in ten children learning to play in the starting year. However, these figures doubled in the next five years, at approximately one fifth. In the last milestone, around 40 percent was the figure of children learning to play the piano and the guitar, twice as much as in 2010.
Regarding the proportions of children playing the drums and the violin, there was a minimal change. After remaining the same for five years, there was a slight increase in the percentage of children playing drums to 10 percent in 2015. Nevertheless, the children learning to play violin rate underwent a gradual decline during the period.
