Overall, music preferences varied significantly by age, with younger listeners favoring modern genres like Hip-hop and Electronic, while older groups preferred Blues and Country.
Among these aged 15-24, Hip-hop was the least purchased , reaching nearly 1.8 million sales. In contrast, Blues and Electronic were significantly most popular in this group, accounting for just over 4 million and 4,2 million, respectively. This figure was followed by Country which made up 3 million.
In the 25-34 age brackets, Electronic and Blues, both of them declined modestly compared to youngest group. Hip-hop became the most popular genre, with approximately 5 million sales. Country remained steady at 3 million. Meanwhile, in the 35-44 age groups, music genres stay steadily with differences almost half of million.
For the 45-54 age groups, Blues maintained strong sales, though other genres except Hip-hop experience noticeable decreases. Especially, Electronic sales dropped to just above 2 million. A notable shift occurred in the oldest demographic (55+), where Country music saw a dramatic rise to over 4.8 million, making it the top genre for that group. Also, overtaking Blues which declined to 1.5 million.
