The given bar chart illustrates the proportions of individuals in various age groups who used three types of media, namely micro blogging, radio, and social networks, to get routine news in one nation in 2011.
Overall, while the percentage of younger age groups saw a preference for using social networks, radio is the most common among older age groups. Regardless of age, micro blogging was the least popular medium for daily news.
Approximately 80% of people aged 10 to 29 use social networks to get news. For the 10 to 17 age group, social networks are the most popular media, with a usage rate much higher than micro blogging and radio. However, in the 18 to 29 age group, while social networks are still widely used at 80% , they are not as popular as radio, which has a rate of under 100%.
Radio remains the most popular news source among age groups from 30 to 65+. It is clearly that as age increases, the use of social networks and micro blogging gradually decreases, indicating a preference for more traditional media among older age groups.
