Two charts ilustrate the kilometers of route and passengers per year in six different cities in Europe.
Overall, it is clear that Madrid showed the lowest numbers in the railway system in 1981. However, the number of passengers in Lisbon was the highest among six cities.
Of all cities, the Paris had the longest kilometers of route, shippimg as much as 394 kilometers. This was in stark contrast to Madrid, which was significantly smaller, at a mere 11 kilometers of route. Following some way behind came the Stockholm, where a similarly higher kilometers of route (199) compared to Lisbon (155) , Rome (126), and Berlin (28).
In contrast, Lisbon had 1927 million passengers per year. The number of passengers in Stockholm (1191 million) was lower than Lisbon’s. Madrid (45) and Berlin(50)had the smallest number of passengers while Paris and Rome showed 775 and 144 million passengers per year.
