The bar chart illustrates the money that people in the United Kingdom spent on Hamburgers, Fish & Chips, and Pizza, based on 3 groups of income in 1990.
Overall, the distribution of people’s expenditure on three types of food was different between each group of income. In addition, the majority of money people spent on Fast food was to buy Hamburgers.
As illustrated in the chart, in the high-income group, people in the UK spent the highest amount of money to buy Hamburgers, accounting for over a whopping 45 million Pounds. The figure for Pizza was remarkably lower, at around 19 million Pounds, but still was the second highest amount for fast food. This was closely followed by the spending on Fish & Chips, standing at 17 million pounds.
People in the group of average income also spent the highest amount of money on Hamburgers, which constituted around 33 million pounds. On the other hand, the figure for Fish & chips accounted for 25 MLP, while the money this group spent on Pizza was the lowest, just one-third of the figure for Hamburgers, at 12 MLP.
Looking at the bar chart, people in the group of Low-income spent the lowest total amount of money on fast food. In detail, Fish & Chips was the item having the highest amount of expenditure, totaling to over 15 MLP. Hamburgers took the second highest amount of money, at 14 MLP, but still were under one third of that for the people with high income. In addition, Pizza was still the item that took the lowest amount of money, while the figure for that stood at a mere 7 MLP.
