The chart highlights the changing rates of crime in inner city of New Port from 2003-2012. Overall, what stands out from the graph is that there was considerably downward trend in burglar while car theft decreased marginally . Also, robbery was the least common type of crime with the slight growth throughout the period.
If we look at burglary, it was the most common type of crime at the beginning of the period with around 3500 incidents in 2003 . Burglary rose significantly and reached its peak around 3800 in the following year and number of burglary incidents witnessed a drammatic fall in the next 4 years. Finally in 2008 it was around 1100 and from this point, the number remained stable until ending of this period .
As regards, the other two areas of crime with lower levels at the beginning, the rates of car theft and robbery started at about 2800 and 600, respectively. In the next 2 following years car theft remained stable and it rose significantly in the next two years and in the end went back to about original level. Meanwhile robbery fluctuated very slightly between about 500 and 900, ending with 600 incidents.
